Live Business Gateway
Mitel Live Business Gateway Extends Enterprise Communications

The Mitel® Live Business Gateway enables enterprises to implement IP-based solutions through a smooth, intelligent evolution. Working in conjunction with Microsoft® Office Communications Server 2007, a SIP-based presence and collaboration server, the Mitel / Microsoft partnership delivers advanced applications for global communication and collaboration.
The Live Business Gateway provides telephony enablement to Office Communications Server 2007. As part of the Mitel Applications and Services Gateway family allowing enterprises to implement IP-based solutions through a smooth, intelligent evolution, the Live Business Gateway integrates the Office Communications Server 2007 and Mitel applications to provide access to key business resources in the moment they are needed, resulting in faster decision making and issue resolution..

Telephony Enablement

Microsoft® Office Communicator 2007 users can use the call feature to initiate calls from their Mitel desktop phone to any other internal or external telephone number. Incoming calls are flagged to the user via the Communicator 2007 pop up incoming call window, enabling the user to answer the call via their Mitel desktop phone or to forward the call to another destination or their voice mailbox at the click of a mouse.

Presence and Availability

Communicator 2007 users are able to see an indication of the status of other users on the network, including their telephony status. If a colleague is busy on a call, they can be “tagged,” meaning that when the call is completed, a notification is provided to indicate their availability.

Extension of Mitel Applications

The Live Business Gateway extends Mitel’s rich telephony applications suite to the Office Communications Server 2007 users leveraging presence and availability from the Communicator 2007 interface.

Integration with Microsoft Outlook and Office Suite

Missed calls are flagged in the user’s Microsoft® Outlook® inbox. A user’s status can be seen within Outlook or the Microsoft® Office suite. Calls can be established directly from these applications via a mouse click.
Through the provision of advanced Mitel telephony applications to the Office Communications Server 2007, the Mitel / Microsoft partnership enables better access to information and people, simply and easily, right from the desktop.

PC-to-Phone
PC-to-Phone SIP (Session Initiation Protocol) integration is supported between OCS 2007 and the 3300 ICP. An end user can establish calls from a Microsoft Office Communicator client, acting as a basic SIP softphone, to or from a Mitel desk phone, the Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN), or any other network-connected PBX. The term PC-to-Phone encompasses calls between PC to PSTN, Phone to PC, and PSTN to PC.

This solution is typically used by mobile employees who do not have a desk phone but instead want to use the embedded SIP softphone capability within the Communicator 2007 client.
From a Microsoft Office Communicator client, a user can dial through the Find field, through a Contact list, or through the Microsoft Office suite of products as defined by the Microsoft server specifications. All telephony services for the Communicator softphone are provided by the Office Communications Server 2007.

There is no integration between the Communicator client and a Mitel desk phone; if this is required, then Live Business Gateway 3.1 and Remote Call Control should be used.

PC-to-Phone provides Communicator users with access to the full range of features provided by the Office Communications Server (for example, Audio and Video Conferencing, Web Collaboration, and Simultaneous Ringing).

PC-to-Phone is supported with OCS 2007 and 3300 ICP release 8.0 UR3.
